LWRC members participate in races in Seattle, across the country, and around the world. Below are resources to help get you going. If you have any questions about racing, regattas, trailering, or boat reservations, contact the LWRC Boathouse Operations Manager.

General Information

General Information

  • The majority of the national rowing regattas are affiliated with USRowing, the National rowing organization. LWRC is a member of USRowing.

  • Individuals must also join USRowing in order to race in USRowing regattas.

  • Many LWRC members participate in open water Sound Rowers and Paddlers races, which are open to rowers as well as is kayakers, paddle boarders, and surf skiers. These races are for experienced rowers and they require special expertise and safety planning. Read more about open water rowing at LWRC here. You do not need to be a member of Sound Rowers and Paddlers, but it is encouraged. Join here.

Requirements to Race in a USRowing Sanctioned Race

  1. Be an active USRowing member (Basic-tier membership or above; membership must be renewed annually): if you wish to row under LWRC's affiliation, contact office@lakewashingtonrowing.com to be make sure you are added to LWRC's USRowing roster. Your USRowing membership.

  2. Annually sign the USRowing Waiver

  3. Annually complete the SafeSport self-attestation. If you are a "relevant adult participant" you will be required to take either the initial 90-minute training or the 30-minute annual refresher course.

Each of these requirements can be completed through the USRowing Membership portal.

Race Registration

LWRC allows our members to register for races on their own. The exceptions are the limited entry regattas, such as Windermere Opening Day and Head of the Charles sweep events (not sculling or Directors Challenges). These are club owned entries and have a selection process associated with them.

Transporting Equipment

LWRC owns a trailer used for regional regattas such as Northwest Masters Regionals, Green Lake, Lake Stevens and Canadian events. The LWRC Regatta Committee determines if a trailer is needed for a regatta.

Reserving Equipment

  • If you wish to reserve a club boat for a race fill out this form.

  • The LWRC Operations Manager will review and confirm your reservation. Filling out a reservation is not a guarantee that you have permission to use.
