Tuesday and Thursday 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday 8:30-10:30am

Immerse yourself in a high energy, competitive, fitness and race focused rowing camp for adult beginners. No previous rowing experience is required! Your camp will culminate with the ultimate fun challenge: a race on August 4th at the Green Lake Summer Extravaganza Regatta!

Be part of a team, supporting each other while you build strength, fitness and rowing fundamentals. You will spend most of your time sweep (team) rowing in eights, and you will also be introduced to small boat rowing and sculling (rowing on your own). Focused instruction, land workouts, and race preparation will ensure you can reach your goals!

Camp cost $200 (a $400 value)

Included in the camp cost:
• 54 hours of instruction from experienced coaches
• Race entry fee and race day coaching
• T-shirt to wear on race day
• Frank Cunningham’s book, “The Sculler at Ease”

No late starts. You must be present for the first week of camp.

Bill was honored at the 2011 Annual Meeting with the prestigious Board of Director Award.   This is given to a member who has shown exemplary and outstanding commitment to the Lake Washington Rowing Club. The award has only been given to two other members; Susan Kinne and Ben Porter.

Congratulations Bill and thank you for all you’ve done for LWRC!

Criteria: Given in recognition to a member of the rowing community in the U.S. who has rendered conspicuous service to or accomplished extraordinary feats in rowing. Secrets Revealed!  Public Welcome!

Ever wonder…How do you lead a “pig” to water?  What’s the best way to stop in a hurry?  How do you check out your boat before malfunctions surprise you on the water? Here’s your chance!

Get a glimpse into the mysterious rituals and etiquette of rowing at LWRC. If you’re new to rowing, new to rowing at LWRC or just wonder how to stay safe, preserve our equipment and generally look cool getting to, from and on the water…. this is the clinic for you. Bring your questions to this hands-on, free event.

Novice Sweep Class -Tuesdays and Thursdays @ 7 AM

The fall is a great time to try out sweep rowing and be ready to start 2011 rowing with your new teammates.  In addition to joining the morning Novice sweep group, the October/November team (sweep) rowing class is open to anyone who’s taken (or is taking) LTR 1 or an Experience Rowing class.  No sweep rowing experience necessary. This class is free to members who commit to attending specific classes. The team rowing class will be scheduled either weekday evenings or weekend mornings, timing to be determined.  Contact Jen to sign up.

Join us on Saturday, October 16th, for our annual Head of the Troll regatta. Course is Locks to Fremont Bridge, approximately 3600 meters long.  All are welcome, whether you are a seasoned racers or just new to rowing and looking for a fun time.

Costumes highly recommended – there are prizes, you know!  Additional details can be found at the boathouse!
