Even having to stop twice and taking the turn at Elliot really wide, we managed second place. So, for 2007 we were excited to race for the gold. I unfortunately had a very bad accident the first week of September which resulted in some surgery and no Fall racing. So....we needed to find a starboard really fast to take my place. Kari Page agreed to step in and handled the pressure and her nervousness with the skills of a pro. She raced with Rachel, Ute and Katarina (my usual teammates for this race for the last 10 years) along with our cox, Mark Mason from Long Beach and not only did they win the race, but also set a new course record. If you see Kari in the boat house, please tell her congratulations....she was fabulous! Within that division, they award a special "Grand Masters" medal (I love the name, even though it means "really old") for the fastest boat with average age over 60.
