Junior Spring Rowing
LWRC proudly offers juniors a unique rowing experience, with emphasis on personal skill development, technique, and strength training. Juniors row in small boats – from singles to quads. The athletes are encouraged to develop confidence through teamwork and achieving individual goals. Our Juniors program accepts participants in grades 7 through 12 and is open to those who have completed a previous season with LWRC, participated in one of our summer programs or have previous rowing experience. All participants must be an LWRC student member to participate. Juniors will also have the opportunity to compete in three local regattas during the spring season. (US Rowing Membership, regatta fees, lodging and transportation not included in program cost)
Those who do not have prior experience, may enroll in a Junior Learn To Row class that will be offered the second week of the season. The goal of the class is to allow athletes to become familiar with equipment, the stroke and become comfortable with rowing a small boat. Depending on their progress, participants may have the opportunity to continue on and join the Junior’s squad; this will require coach’s approval.

During the second week, students concentrate on balance, the addition of power to the stroke, and safety. Small class sizes and individualized attention distinguish LWRC Junior Learn to Row. Open to 13-18 year olds. Upon completion of this program, junior rowers are eligible to join the LWRC Junior Program.

Summer Rowing Camps
This summer, LWRC will have five week-long sculling camps for rowers of different skill levels. Our Level 1 camps are great for new rowers or rowers who have been off the water for some time. The Level 2 camp will build on basic skills taught in Level 1. Rowers with prior sculling experience from another program or club can enter Level 2 without taking Level 1.

LWRC Junior coaches are available for private coaching sessions. Hire one of our expert coaches for a solo lesson. Private lessons are available for beginners, as well as experienced rowers looking to improve their skills. Once you purchase a private lesson, you will be contacted by an LWRC coach to arrange a time for your session. If you have a coach preference, please contact the LWRC Office . You do not need to be a member of LWRC to take a private lesson. However, you do need to complete a float test and sign the LWRC and USRowing waivers before your first lesson.
